Burnham Hoyt was born in Denver, Colorado in 1887 and graduated from Denver High School, North Side, in 1904. He attended the Beaux Arts School of Design in New York City in 1908 and after graduation served his apprenticeship at the firm of George Post and Bertram Goodhue. In 1919, Hoyt returned to Denver to join his brother, Merrill Hoyt, in forming an architectural firm.
